Welcome to my blog! 

At this point, it's something of a relic of a bygone era. I was very active on here 2017-2019, posted sporadically in 2020, and then it pretty much faded into irrelevance. But every now and then I attempt to breathe new life into this site. This is my current attempt, however short-lived it may be.

I have to admit, I find it hard to define myself for an 'about' page. Gone are the days when 15-year-old me could easily write 1000+ words about herself for this blog; the older I get, the more I realise it's impossible to sum up a person in a few paragraphs. In any case: hi, I'm Andrea. I'm 21. I'm in my final year of studying creative writing at university. I self-published a short novella back in 2020, but I aspire to publish novels through a publishing house at some point. I like stories about messy people, about flawed people; in other words, about real people. I post about books, about writing, about life, about anything and everything, really.

"You Can't Change The Past": A short story

You can't change the past. It's the only thought in my mind as I sit alone in my room. It spins around and around in my head, obliterating every single other thought. You can't change the past. You can't change the past. I wish I could, though. I wish it with all my might. I wish I could step through a portal and appear, say, a year into my past. I could grab hold of myself at that time and explain what would happen, and how easily I could avoid so much grief and heartache. Just a decision. Really Random Post - life updates, YouTube shoutouts + WIP snippets!

*jumps into view* HEY GUYS! So. It's been a while. I mean, not a huge while?? Just like... three weeks? Ok so that's a pretty big while. BUT. Hey, I'm here now,  aren't I!! I'm back!! Isn't this exciting!! Anyways, I do  have an excuse for having dropped off the blogging radar for some time, or rather, I have several excuses. These are:                           1. I have my first GCSE exams coming up in just over a week (A WEEK?!) so I've been reeeallly busy revising and finishing everything off and just basically stressing. (I mean, I'm not that stressed? But I do have LOADS I still have to revise before my exams.) Which means I have very little free time to come up with blog posts and even less time to actually WRITE the darn things. (No but seriously, how come blog posts can't just write themselves?? It would make everything so much easier.)               ...

Indigo's Monthly Writing Challenge: September

This is actually going to be a thing I'm so excited!!! Hey, remember the idea I wrote about yesterday in this post?  Well, a few people said they were interested so I've decided to make it into something official. Welcome to Indigo's Monthly Writing Challenge! (I'll probably give it a snappier title later on...) The idea: at the start of every month, I come up with a theme, such as "music", "friendship", "pets", "summer". And whoever wants to participate has until the end of the month to write a short story on the theme I've chosen. Here are the rules! THE RULES: - Anyone can participate! - There aren't really any rules about what you can write, so long as it has something to do with the theme (that's the whole point of this challenge, after all).
